FAQ

Social Media Gids provides a clear, safe and distraction free environment available for our members. This online community has a public and private part and combines the traditional forum with a social media platform and an e-learning environment. Our members consist in particular of independent contractors, marketers, communication officers, accountmanagers and business owners. Professionals share information and strategies here and provide each other support needed to make social media work optimally within your field of expertise.

You can join the Social Media Gids online community via e-mail registration or Facebook sign-on so you can also ask social media advice and share information and strategies with other community members.

Under the 'Community Boards' you can introduce yourself, share your successes, sign up for the “Get started, Get connected, Get informed and Get active challenges”, comment on blog articles, ask questions, share information and strategies with other members.

You can introduce yourself here by pressing the "Start topic" button on the top right and type your "introduce yourself message". When you're finished, press the green "start topic" button to confirm and post your message. Tip! Complete your profile and earn 100 engagement points:-)

Yes it's possible to make your account private. You can click on your own profile photo at the top right. You'll see "my profile". When you click on it, you can see your profile. Click on 'Edit' and change public profile to private profile. Click on 'Save'.

You can participate in a challenge by, clicking on 'Community' in the menu bar (at the top of the page) followed by "Get started, Get connected, Get informed and Get active Challenges!" There you will see the expired, running and upcoming challenges. On the right side of a message you will see a box containing the challenge goals. Click on the green 'Enroll' button. You're "enrolled now" and ready to Get started, Get connected, Get informed and Get active!

On the top right you can see a magnifying glass icon and at the bottom of the browser a search window. Type the topic or community member you're looking for. If the topic or community member exists in de community you will receive all relevant information about the topic or community member.

You can follow a specific topic by mark an asterisk on the right side of a message you'd like to follow. The asterisk turns yellow. Then click on the menu bar (at the top of the page) on "My Topics" and select "Favorites." Here you can find are all the topics that you indicated that you would like to follow. If you don't want to follow a particular topic anymore, click on the yellow star. This will turn white again and will be automatically removed from your favorites.

You can request a new password here. Enter your e-mailaddress and click on send. You will receive your new password in your e-mailbox.

Click on your own profile at the top right. You'll see "my profile". Click on it and press the green ‘Edit’ button. Under your e-mail address, you can generate an new password. Click on the green ‘Save’ button and your done!

At the bottom right of a message you can click on the thumbnail "I like this comment". You indicate that you like the message and the person who posted the message will receive engagement points. You can help your community and earn some engagement points to by participate on the HELPSMGHELPYOU challenge here.

On the Leaderboard you can see who are the most supportive and active community members of the last month (30 days). You can earn engagement points when you open a topic, post a response, if someone liked your comment or if the one started the topic chooses your answer as the best answer. Once you've posted your message, you'll see the text "Email Updates" on the right side of the screen. When you check the square next to it, you will get an update when someone responded to your message.

You can send another community member an e-mail by searching her profile here first. Press on the blue message button under the community member profile picture. You can now send an e-mail.

You can read your e-mail messages in 2 ways. On the top right, on the left side of your profile picture you see an envelope. Press on this envelope to go directly to your e-mail inbox. You can also press on your profiel picture and the "inbox" option will appear.

You can post a message by jump in the "Comment in this topic" field and type your message. If you want to add a picture, press the picture button at the bottom of the "Comment in this topic" field and choose a picture on your computer or smartphone. NOTE! You can only add a picture before posting the message. If you want to edit the message later one you will not be able to change the added picture. If you want to 'tag' an other community member in your message, press the person button at the bottom of the "Comment in this topic" field and use "@" first before typing his/her name. The community member will receive an alert so he/she can jump into the conversation. When you're finished, press the green "Reply" button to confirm and post your message.

You can start a topic by pressing the "Start topic" button on the top right and type your "topic " in the "Caption for your topic" field. In the "What would you like to share with the community..." field you can type your message. If you want to add a picture, press the picture button on the left and choose a picture on your computer or smartphone. NOTE! You can only add a picture when starting the topic. If you want to edit the topic later one you will not be able to change the added picture. If you want to 'tag' an other community member in your message, press the person button at the bottom of the "Comment in this topic" field and use "@" first before typing his/her name. The community member will receive an alert so he/she can jump into the conversation. When you're finished, press the green "start topic" button to confirm and post your topic/message.

You can edit or delete your message by standing in your message. At the top right you will see a pencil. Click on it and you will see a few options. Click on "Edit message" to edit the message, on "delete message" to delete the message. If you started the topic you can click on "Edit topic" to edit the topic and on "delete topic" to delete the topic.

You can close your topic by standing in the message and at the top right you will see a pencil. Click on it and you will see a few options. Click on "Close topic" and your topic will be closed directly.

You can inform an other community member about a message by 'tagging' him/her in your message by using the "@" first before typing his/her name. The community member will receive an alert so he/she can jump into the conversation.

You can respond on a topic by typing a message under the last posted message. If you want to 'tag' an other community member in your message, use the "@" first before typing his/her name. The community member will receive an alert so he/she can jump into the conversation.

You can read a message by clicking on the title. In the community board Do you want to submit a reaction? you have to click on the link title first and than on the blue link (not on the picture) in the message.

Next to text and images, you can also share videos in our online community. When you're on the page of the YouTube video you want to share, click on 'share' under the video. Then click on 'Embed' and copy the link who pops-up blue. Copy this link in the message and click on the green "Start topic" of 'Reply' button. The video in your message will be shown like this one:

You can unsubscribe from the community by using the “GET IN TOUCH” field located on the page below (our FAQ & Support page). Please ask us to unsubscribe you and we will unsubscribe you from the community.

Community members can start public, private, or secret micro communities (sub-boards) in 'Groups', invite each other and tag in topics. You can share information and strategies here and provide each other support needed to make your challenges work optimally within your field of expertise.

You can start your own micro community by, clicking on 'Groups' in the menu bar (at the top of the page). On the following page you will see on the left side a green 'Start' button where you have to click on. Fill in the name of the group, give a short description of the group, set the ground rules for the group and choose a (social media) category in the drop down menu. Next you can choose, if you want, the group to be public (everybody can browse and join), private (only invited people can join) or secret (only members of this group can find this group). Insert a image and start add and inviting community members (If you want to invite people who are not a member of Social Media Gids community, the have to join the community first before you can add and invite them to your group. Ofcourse this is totally FREE. Click on the blue 'Start" button at the right bottom of the page and you're ready to Get started, Get connected, Get informed and Get active!

Under 'Services' we offer an e-learning environment. Here you will find our digital products like e-books, video courses, audio programs and textual manuals / reference works. Our community members can easily navigate through the various modules via the desktop or mobile app and always have insight into their progress. Once a module has been viewed, it will be flagged in the overview.

If some parts of Services are transparant and you don't have access to them, you have to pay a subscription- or a one time fee for access. Click on the Service you like to purchase for further instructions.

You don't have access to all parts of the community because some parts are paid parts.

You can choose from 3 subscriptions. A subscription per month, quarterly or per year. The longer your subscription last, the less you pay. A monthly subscription costs € 39,99 per month excl. 21% VAT. (First month is € 1,00 excl. 21% VAT). A quarterly subscription costs € 35,99 a month excl. 21% VAT. An annual subscription costs € 32,99 per month excl. 21% VAT. You are most advantageous with a yearly subscription. Subscriptions are automatically renewed without notice.

Without a subscription you can make limited use of the Social Media Gids community. If you don't have a subscription, you can use the following boards: 1: Community; 2: Groups; 3: Services (where you can download Social Media Strategy templates and e-books; discover solutions of branch-related issues; see interviews with experts and increase your knowledge with high class trainings)

When you have a subscription, you can profit of all the opportunities of Social Media Gids community: 1: Community; 2: Groups; 3: Services (where you can download Social Media Strategy templates and e-books; discover solutions of branch-related issues; see interviews with experts and increase your knowledge with high class trainings)

The duration of a subscription is as long as the subscription you choose. For example, a monthly subscription can be canceled per month, quarterly subscription per quarter, etc. Subscriptions are automatically renewed without notice.

Yes, you can change your subscription. For example, when you start a monthly subscription, you can convert to a quarterly or annual subscription to benefit from a discount.

You can make your first subscription fee payment by iDeal, PayPal or Creditcard to verify your account number. Every subsequent month, quarter or year the subscription fee will be collected via SEPA.

No, we don't offer a "money back guarantee". You can try the Social Media Gids community for free, as long as you want and without any risk to see if it fits you. Engagement points are a great way to encourage valued members to become supportive and active in our community. Most members want's as many engagement points as possible, which represents a status of being supportive, active and help other members in our community to succeed and excel in their profession. Tip! Complete your profile and earn 100 engagement points:-)

You can earn engagement points in the following ways: 1: Open a topic - 3 engagement points; 2: Post a response - 2 engagement points; 3: Someone liked your comment - 2 engagement points; 4: The one started the topic chooses your answer as the best answer - 10 engagement points. Tip! Complete your profile and earn 100 engagement points:-)

We organize challenges to help you get different insights, techniques information, strategies and support necessary to succeed and excel in your profession but in a fun and challenging way. We work together for one period of maximum 30 days on one challenge. The challenge will help you stay focussed and motivated to achieve your goals. Get started, Get connected, Get informed and Get active challenges are industry-related challenges and are only accessible if you have a subscription.

Our community members can help each other and search back issues in topics. For members in need of 1-on-1 contact we have a helpdesk / ticket center in which members can access topics that can only be seen by moderators.
